Scenarios

Hi,

Im relatively new to Simutrans.

How do you make a new scenario? Is there a scenario builder? I have downloaded a landscape map of the UK, but want to play it with the citys in the right places, hence my need to make a scenario, and customise the map first.

Unfortunately, scenarios as such are not possible (hopefully with "yet" appended ).

To be pedantically precise, there is something called "scenarios" which is more of a feature stub, though.

Has anyone got a save file for the UK with citys in the right place?

Or a save file of London with buildings? I did fine mention that someone did on the old forum but the links are dead.

If you want you can use the Public Service Player to build the cities and the roads.

I've been creating something similar to this in Experimental, but I don't have a map with all the cities but no transport. I've started the map from scratch using an amended version of the heightmap available here (I found that one to be too small and imprecise in places). As An_dz says, you can use the Public Service Player to create cities. However, since it's so much work to create huge cities, I've decided to build the transport as I go along.

I could send you the heightmap I've used, or even upload it, if you'd like -- and if you'd like to see the work-in-progress savegame I can send that over too.

That would be ace if you can give me the height map or the save file.

I want to work on a London map, but creating the city using the public service would take me a while.

It's very large and it covers all of Great Britain -- I realise that the 'UK' title is inaccurate since it doesn't include Northern Ireland! :-)

The heightmap is not perfect, and needs more work. But it's better than other versions I've found. Note that it should be played with a distance_per_tile_percent value of 25. (I think that can only be set in Experimental).

Edit: I also have smaller versions of this map, which may suit your needs better, but these should anyway be fairly easy to create by scaling the image in something like Gimp.

I'll upload my work-in-progress savegame -- which uses this map as a basis -- later, along with the add-ons I've used.

I somehow missed your map of the UK. That's really not a bad one.  Did you make it yourself?

Not exactly: it's adapted from a map on maps.simutrans.com. I enlarged it and tidied up the edges. Oh, and I "corrected" the height/width ratio, too. I say "corrected", because it's still not quite right. There's still lots of room for improvement.
