I play Pak128 v102 with the addition of high rise buildings from Pak128 Japan add-ons. I have built a large modern city which consist largely of high rise buildings and to serve my citizens I have a sub-way system consisting of a loop one level below city made of 8 stations each 6 tiles apart. My problem.. no citizens board the subway train. The stations show a yellow bar and the message in the details says "no direct connection".
Do I need a surface connection?   Thank you, Grampybear

Which trainstation did you use, you have to use stations that accept passengers. When you open the train toolbar, you can see what the different station types accept in the upper right corner of every station Icon.

I used  the surface gray half covered platform which says it holds 160 passengers.

I thought all stations could hold passengers, but not all could hold freight...

Followup. I connected subway stop to above ground bus terminal which
services two other communities. Passangers travel from other communities to bus terminal attached to subway but are afraid to travel underground to or from the high rise buildings. Subway continues to run empty.
Grampybear ???

Hi Grampybear,

maybe you can upload some screenshots are a savegame, that might help to see whats the problem.

The attached screen shot shows below ground level. I now have only 7 stations and they are no longer evenly spaced as per my first post. Hope this helps. Grampybear

What kind of train are you using? Otherwise, it might be a bug in the add-ons, idk.

By the way, you can post up your savegame at http://simutrans-germany.com/files/

Stick user + pass from forums in, and ta-da - then we can check!

Thank you all for the continued help. I am using the HARU HST train consisting of 3 vehicles, front & rear engine and 1 car carring 78 passengers.
The idea that it might be the add-ons could be right because I cannot get passengers to board a surface bus at any of the surface stations I added while trying to work out this problem.  Grampybear ::)

Hmm - have you tried it again, using a different city perhaps?

Upload please, then we can have a better looksies!

grampybear

I have uploaded the full save game as "Newport.sve"  to the german site. Not sure I did it right, first time uploading this type of information.

Hi grampybear,

would be nice if you can list the addons you use. because without them we cant use the savegame.

I am really feeling bad..the longer this goes on the more I realize I created a large mess and probably have wasted too much of your time. This is what I have done: I started with PAK128 v102 then I added the British Industry PAK and the tourist attractions from PAK128 Britian along with the British Depot PAK. These all worked well and gives me a large seletion of inner city industries. I then moved to PAK128 Japan and added the road trains, oil tankers, several buses, and some of the ships and recently added most of the skyscraper buildings from the PAK128 Japan english site.  The skyscrapers although shown as tourist attractions with large numbers of passengers do not seem to work to allow pickup or discharge of these passengers for both the buses and rail service. The buses and trains stop at the station but no one ever gets on or off and no one in other cities wants to go to the tall buildings. If you want to put this whole request aside and call it done, I fully understand.  Thank you for all the time you have allready put into this.  Grampybear

Ah - I think I'll drop here. Those are too many files!!!

You could always upload your pak directory too... :)

Maragil

Too big :O - I'd expect it to be 20MB+

With several pak-sets (or parts of them), your goods definitions are probably messed up. Also, IIRC, Japanese Pak-makers traded mail for 1st class passengers, and different pak-sets can have different names for similar goods.
If you look at the list of good*.pak files in the pak folder (and show it to us), you may see the conflicts, and maybe solve part of the problem by deactivating duplicate passenger and mail definitions (rename them to .pak_deact). However, this may not fix the buildings that depend on these definitions.
