Yea, I was thinking.

Look the picture below.
PS: Square is 64cm x 64cm. The building is one floor (13cm).  ;D

EDIT: Great, there is something in the picture. Just ignore it...  :P Re-upload picture.

This has been discussed on the forum many times. Please look around. Search the forum for "sketchup".

Oh, never seen it before. ::(

However, is there a converter from SketchUp file to SimuTrans Pak File?

No. You'll need to render the image to a PNG, write a DAT file for it and compile a PAK from those with MakeObj.

Usually the conversion from 3D models to the view that Simutrans needs is tricky. The good thing is, once you figured the proper camera settings, you can do it all over with all the models.

I sure have put a day or two of work into my camera settings, too, when I was experimenting with raytraced images for one of my projects. Just to give you an example, that it other people also need their time for such.

No, I have been using Blender and PovRay. But the process of setting the camera is similar in most 3D tools.

Tricky is that usually 3D tools want to render perspective images, while Simutrans needs isometric images. If the tool does not support orthogonal/isometric rendering, it sometimes helps to have a very narrow angle and large distance for the camera view. But I have no idea how SketchUp handles the camera, so I might rather confuse but help you with these details ...

edson

Povray can also be used in SketchUp, look at this attraction: it was made on Google, with Povray! ;D

Spike

Ok, then it should be easy to get an orthographic camera setting with Povray :)

... and I should look into SetchUp, since PovRay is my favorite renderer and if SketchUp can use it, it will be something for me, too.

PlayTrans2009

Well, SketchUp is a 3D modelling programme where you can make houses or anything and you can show off your models at the 3D Warehouse.

Now I know but look at this below.

The picture is not even transparent. Can anyone give me the special colours in pak64?

PlayTrans2009

It works but look at the picture below.

It has some gaps. Can anyone fix it? The picture is below the post.

vilvoh

The gaps are due to a wrong camera/point of view alignment. Use the base pak64 tile as background tile...link.

...

Can anyone fix it please? I don't have any editing programmes that links the pictures together.

vilvoh

Open both images. Make a selection that includes your building and then cut and paste that selection in the pak64 base tile image..you don't need any special editing program. All are basic actions (select, cut, paste, open, move selection) available even in Microsoft Paint, the painting program that is included in Windows.

PlayTrans2009

Still can't. Those re-sizing makes the picture not nice.

Just help please!

Spike

I'd first try to adjust the camera in SketchUp to get a closer match. The remaining problems I'd try to fix by painting.
