My system: Win Vista  Basic 1gb Ram and a cpu ;p

Anyway I downloaded all of the things required assembled them in the same directory. But it refuses to start. I get:

Fatal error: loadsave_t::rdwr_str()
expected "<bool>", got "<i16>4"

Isn't there some easier thing around than http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=1894.0 ?

Just a:
1) download and install (link here)
2) download and install (link here)
3) download and install (link here)
etc

That is a lot easier than that block of text :)

Thx for the good work btw

Wearth,

thank you for the report. This problem is usually cured by deleting settings-experimental.xml in your /My Documents/simutrans folder or equivalent.

As to the installation instructions - the eventual aim is to have fully automated installers for the main platforms, but it's only worthwhile doing that when the thing is working well, and there are still a number of issues to work on in that respect first; but one day!

Do let me know how you get on.

Yes!

That seemed to do the trick .........

Never realised settings and save files were saved globally now. Always wondered why they weren't deleted with the rest :)

Working as a charm sofar. Using 128 britain exp .6

Many differences with the standard pak britain I noticed.

Only 3 crashes or so sofar :)

What were you doing when it crashed, and was there an error message?

No error message. I have a tendency to be to fast with my trackball. And it crashes on that. Same with "vanilla" 102.2.2 Britain and 128 normal. It is nothing above the normal amount of crashes I have experienced over the many years that I have had Simutrans so I never really take notice!

jamespetts

Hmm, interesting - I hardly get any crashes, and, when I do, I normally track down and fix what causes them.

Ok, my games usually crash once or twice if I play four hours or so. Not on a really annoying level and I save a lot (no autosave). So nothing to complain about really.

jamespetts

Hmm - even if it doesn't bother you, it may well bother others. Do you notice that you are doing anything in particular or if anything happens just before the crash?

It usually involves me clicking to fast and once or twice to much on the same object that freezes it. It does have a tendency to happen if at that same moment a message pops up or autosave starts up.

jamespetts

Hmm, interesting: I've never had that. That sounds like a problem that is likely to be equally present in Standard. What system do you use (OS, hardware, etc.)?

Toshiba Satelite 100
1 gb Ram
1.73 ghz dual core

Vista Home Basic

I am pretty convinced the problem is the amount of Ram! It kinda kills other software as well when I open to many applications at the same time.

I also like huge maps 1800*1000 approx although nowadays I start with 64*64 and use the "enlarge map" function

No money to buy more Ram though.

jamespetts

Ahh. That combination does sound as if it will stress your system rather a lot. Strictly, that shouldn't cause crashes, though; but it does suggest that the problem is specific to your setup, rather than general.

It stresses me out a lot too! I know I should at least double the RAM, because of Vista, but no finances at the moment.

Running Exp8.2 for lots of hours (100+) and NO crashes at all.
