Berlin 1961 - 'Simutrans-Player, tear down this wall!'

We write June 13, 1961. The Government of East-Berlin built last night a wall around West Berlin to protect its own people. Don't even think about crossing the border by land, sea or air!  Caution they are armed.

Feel free to built up a network in East- or/and West-Berlin. The interconnection of networks, if required, can only mentioned border stations carried. For more informations and your goals  look to the readme files (english and german).

notes: the addon berlin wall isn't complete yet, but it's playable.

Wow... it is a great challenge. I have big problems with earning enough money and not to write red figures. Normally I play pak.german and it was my first map with pak128. I tried to use ships to transport goods, coal or iron ore... because I didn't want to destroy the city. But it seems that the ships are not well balanced... it is not possible for me to earn money... after 5 years I'm below 0.... and I loose money further. (I tried to supply the electronics factory in West-Berlin and produce goods for the supermarket.)

Pak128 looks nice... but it seems, that the graphics for rail transportation system (stations) and the vehicles are not so divers like in pak.german.

Is it possilbe to use more Addons (perhaps from the japanese-site) to make the transport system more divers?

Thank you for the map!

P.s: Is it possible to change the map from 128 resolution to 64? I don't mean the scenario... only the landscape and the city positions?

In addition to that: did you make a heightmap for your Berlin map? If so, can I have it and publish it on the Simutrans maps website?  :P

Yes. (look at your email mailbox)

Well, it isn't easy. The test I was running was successful. But yes, to earn
money by transporting goods isn't well balanced. That's not a problem of
simutrans, it's only for this scenario.

1. As I know, yes.
2. Map for 64 : the ppm file you will find soon on Simutrans maps website it will work

both links are updated.

Quote from: Berlin-1961  readme.txt
Now try to connect the subnets from the East- and West-Berlin to a
well working network. In addition, try to make at the mark
'Berlin HBF (future)' the new central train station.

more or less done.

The first scripted-scenario version of the Berlin 1961 scenario is online. Now the scenario has:
  • snow level until level -1
  • one new border station (missing in old one)
  • better wall graphics (inside the pak)
  • wall with border police, graffiti, searchlight, new train stations
  • protected wall and underground
  • game now in three parts (revolution time, reunion time, future time)
  • using new stuff of simutrans 112.1.1 and pak128
I still have to fix a few things (border road graphic, pdf file and players target amounts), but it works and is well playable. The scenario needs nightly r6307 or higher, pak128 2.2.0 r1142 or higher and addon berlin_1961_v02.pak (inside ZIP)

new scenario version: berlin_1961.zip (6.9 MB, version 0.2, online until 2013/04/07 )

Here is the new scenario version of 'Berlin 1961'

(tested with nightly simutrans 120.0.1 r7332 and nightly pak128 2.5.0  r1486)
  • new graffiti (40 images)
  • use and support of new landscape
  • more small cities
  • power lines over the border
  • small changes in script for simutrans new landscape levels
berlin_1961_v03.zip (6.92 MB, version 0.3)

Nice savegame. The big concrete wall is really nice, it would be nice to add it to pak128.

His wall still needs slopes, moreover I would need his autorization to add it to pak128 but he has not been around for about 7 months now ... so : no wall :/
