In online games, it would be very nice to have a type of "text label" that is free and can be used by any player freely, as an interaction tool, this means that it will not have any owner and any player can remove or modify .

This is relatively easy to incorporate, just use "PLAYER_UNOWNED" in the text label constructor in a new type of tool.

For that we have the chat window nowadays. Communication by label was just a way to do before the chat.

Mariculous

We still do this quite frequently on stephenson-siemens and the hidden servers I hosted for years.
It's simply easyer to leave messages to offline players on a map location serving as a pinboard, than spamming the chat and hoping the player will scroll the chat and read it all.

Players can easily find @<playername> signs in the sign list, whilst leaving such in the chat will require the player to sequentially read the whole chat.

Nevertheless, Imho it's fine as-is. The player owned, thus player colored signs will clearly state who is the one asking for whatever is written on the sign and I don't think everyone should be allowed to remove such notes.
It's up to the creator of such signs to decide if whatever is written on that sign is still relevant or not.
