Using shortcut keys to decrease slice level, how ?

but I think it is possible to go beyond sea level, if you use the keys to decrease slice level. Needs to be activated in menuconf.tab though.

It says you need to edit the menuconf.tab, but I dont know how to do it. Can someone give me an introduction?
